If you see a beautifully made wooden boat at the Gales, chances are you're looking at Nick's boat. Nick is an accomplished kayak designer/builder and has developed quite a line of high performance, rough water sea kayaks under Guillemot Kayaks. Nick started paddling canoes and kayak at the tender age of 10 and was one of the founding members of the "Rough Water Invitational" - an early pre-courser to the Autumn Gales. He can often be found teaching how build wooden kayaks at The WoodenBoat school in Maine and has two books to his credit: The Strip-Built Sea Kayak and Building Strip Planked Boats.
