2025 Autumn Gales - Registration Now Open!
Hello Autumn Galers!
Registration is now open for the 2025 event! Please visit the Registration/Contact Info page to sign up. We thank you for your continued support to make this event possible. And since we feel it's important to keep this event accessible, we are keeping the pricing structure same as last year with the options for a 1, 2 or 3 day sign-up for the main event (Oct 31st-Nov 2nd). Also, as part of the main event, if you are interested in the Coastal Sea Kayaking or Advance Sea Kayaking personal performance awards, please indicate that on the registration form.
The Paddle UK/British Canoeing courses will be held Monday, Nov 3rd - Wednesday, Nov 5th. The Coastal and Open Water Navigation courses will be held on Monday Nov 3rd. The Sea Kayak Leader and Advance Sea Kayak Leader training or assessments are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov 4th and 5th).
We are still working on the coaching line up but you can expect some new faces and returning ones!

What is the Autumn Gales?
The Autumn Gales is in its second decade of being the premier rough water event on the East Coast and is held in one of the few areas in the U.S. that has tidal currents worthy of holding British Canoeing's Advance Sea Kayak Leader Awards. Fisher's Island Sound is an amazing location and we strive to create unique experiences to learn and gain experience with rough water paddling. The Autumn Gales event runs out of Stonington Borough, Connecticut and uses the New England Science & Sailing waterfront facility.
Our high level coaches and rough water guides create an environment where paddler's can test their comfort zone, gain confidence and continue their skills growth and seamanship. We pride ourselves on a low coach/guide to participation ratio that allows for a lot of individualized coaching. The event is geared towards a variety of paddlers - those that have a solid foundation on flat water and have experienced some bouncy water to those looking to hone their skills in the bigger stuff.
Come be a part of a fun community and sub-culture of rough water paddlers that are empowering to be around - sharing knowledge, exploring and building confidence.
